Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder affects in the early stages of life. Researches show that autism may appear anytime during the first 12 years of a person's life. Autism affects communication skill, social and personal interactive skill and learning skill of the person affected. As per WHO report, 1 in 110 people worldwide having autistic symptoms.

Autism is a "spectrum" disorder; to be precise, symptoms of autism may vary from moderate to severe in different persons. Symptoms of autism are included but not constrained to:

  • Problems in verbal and nonverbal communication
  • Trouble to interact with others
  • Lack of motor and self-help skills
  • Repeated body movements
  • Unusual attachment to objects [For e.g. CD, ball, ring etc.]
  • Oversensitivity to sound, smell, touch, taste, sight etc.
  • Hyperactivity
  • Lack of eye contact
  • Learning disability
  • Mood swings
  • Sleep difficulty
  • As the actual cause of autism has not yet detected despite extensive researches at developed countries like US and UK, absolute solution for autism too is a far-away dream. But early diagnosis and intervention can make up this disorder to the tune of 70-80% or even more. Intervention includes:

  • Behavior Therapy
  • Speech-language Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physio Therapy
  • Special education
  • Medications
  • Yoga and Meditation

ANNUAL GENERALBODY

WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY




The day will be observed in Thrissur by the Society on 02/04/2017 with lighting of lamp in support to autism affected individuals. Hon. Dist. Collector Dr. Kousigan IAS will inaugurate the function. Venue: Nr. Thekke Gopura Nada, Thekkikadu Maidan, Thrissur; Time: 5.30pm
